Big Red Machine ('75) rolls over '62 Jints

The 1975 Big Red Machine of Cincinnati swept the struggling 1962 Giants, using solid starting pitching and timely hitting.

The Reds overcame an early 4-1 deficit in game one, and came back to win 8-6 in 10 innings as George Foster hit reliever Bobby Bolin’s first pitch out of the yard for a game winning home run.

Gary Nolan threw a 4 hit shutout in game 2, and the Reds completed the sweep with a 7-3 victory in the finale.

San Francisco’s problem is on mound, as they are last in the league in BAA and team ERA. Offensively they are struggling as well with a team batting average of only .232, and no regular over .300. Willie Mays (.231) and Willie McCovey (.152) have struggled, along with Jim Davenport (.254), Ed Bailey (.207), Tom Haller (.160) and a host of others.
